Some news regarding Spotify

Hi, some news.

In the next couple of days, my music will be taken down from Spotify. Like many musicians, I’ll be boycotting the platform for the foreseeable. The CEO of Spotify’s ethics, including recent investment into arms and weaponry, alongside the platform’s AI policies and general lack of respect for musicians and creatives, means that I can’t leave my work up there in good conscience.

The current climate leaves so many creatives in a difficult position. To gain any traction it often feels like we have to feed, or even become part of, the capitalist machine. Rejecting this makes it a much more difficult career to pursue. I’d encourage you to consider supporting musicians in alternative ways, if you can.

My own music will be available on Bandcamp, my website and (for now) alternative streaming platforms.

I’m under no illusions that this will make a huge difference to the state of things - for me, it was never really about the streams and my Spotify impact was small. But I do believe in the power of collective action, and that small steps lead to big changes.

Thanks so much for all the listens over there, over the years. I appreciate it deeply.

See you elsewhere in the ether.

Big love xx
